Privacy Policy
This policy explains how RomansGarageSale.com handles information for Roman Vaxman’s personal garage sale. The site is not a retail marketplace. Personal information is not sold, rented, or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Information collected
The site stores information you provide when creating an account, placing an order, or making an offer. Depending on what you do, that may include your name, email address, optional phone number, account credentials in hashed form, offer amount and message, selected items, cart contents, order details, fulfillment choice, and a shipping address when you request shipping.
Essential cookie and technical data
The site sets one essential, HTTP-only session cookie named rv_session. It keeps your cart, sign-in state, and request-security token connected to your browser and expires after 30 days. The server stores only a hash of that cookie token. The site and its network provider, Cloudflare, also process ordinary request data such as IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, timestamps, referrer, and security or error signals to deliver and protect the site.
Analytics
If anonymous analytics is enabled, the site uses PostHog in cookieless mode to measure page views and page exits. It does not autocapture clicks or forms, create person profiles, or record sessions. PostHog may process the page path, browser and device type, referrer, IP address, and approximate location derived from IP. Names, email addresses, offer text, shipping addresses, account details, and payment details are not intentionally sent to PostHog.
Payments
Card details are entered on Stripe’s hosted Checkout and processed by Stripe. The site sends Stripe the order amount, item names, customer email address, fulfillment type, and an internal order reference. It receives payment status, totals, currency, and transaction or Checkout identifiers, but not your full card number. Stripe handles this information under its own privacy policy.
How information is used
Information is used to operate carts and accounts; evaluate offers; create, confirm, and fulfill orders; reserve inventory during payment; send transactional confirmations and seller notifications; arrange pickup; obtain requested shipping rates and labels; provide tracking; prevent fraud and abuse; troubleshoot and secure the site; respond to requests; and maintain records reasonably needed for disputes, accounting, tax, or legal obligations.
Sharing
Information is disclosed only as needed to operate the site or complete a transaction: to Cloudflare for network delivery and security; Stripe for payment processing; Resend for transactional email delivery; PostHog if cookieless analytics is enabled; Shippo and the selected carrier when eligible shipping is requested; advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights, investigate fraud, or resolve a dispute; and a successor responsible for records if the sale operation is transferred. These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Retention and security
Session records expire after 30 days, although expired technical records may remain until routine cleanup. Account, offer, order, payment-reference, shipping, and related correspondence records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to run and close the sale, complete transactions, handle disputes or fraud, and meet accounting, tax, or legal obligations. Passwords are salted and hashed; session tokens are hashed server-side; and payment-card details stay with Stripe. No internet service is perfectly secure, so do not submit information the site does not request.
Your choices
Guest checkout is available; an account is not required. You can clear the essential cookie through your browser, but doing so resets the current cart and session. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you, email [email protected]. Roman may need to verify the request and may retain transaction records when reasonably required for security, disputes, or legal obligations.
California notice
This personal sale is not represented as a business covered by the California Consumer Privacy Act’s statutory thresholds. Regardless, it does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If applicable law grants you additional rights, requests may be sent to the address above and will not be treated differently for exercising them.
Children
The site is intended for adults arranging purchases of used personal property, not for children under 13. Roman does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; contact the address above if you believe a child submitted information.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the site’s practices or service providers change. The effective date above will change when a revision is published.
